Why Fletcher and Carrick are Good Enough

Over the last couple of seasons, and especially this and the previous campaign, has Manchester United's midfield been heavily under-fire due to lack of creativity and x-factor. The following explains why neither Darren Fletcher or Michael Carrick are the right ones to blame for United's midfield being boring and below the required level.

The Big Midfield Conundrum

Remember our 98/99 midfield containing four world-class midfielders named Beckham, Keane, Scholes and Giggs? Those days seem long gone, and many supporters are craving a quality midfielder to enter Old Trafford, as such world-class - especially in the centre of the pitch - is missing at the moment. The chorus is apparently that Fletcher isn't creative enough, Carrick isn't offensive-minded enough, Giggs isn't young enough, Gibson isn't good enough and Anderson isn't consistent enough. Additionally it's too early to demand too much from Tom Cleverley. Now, The Prawn-Sandwich Brigade gives you a "who's who" of potential midfielders who could elevate the current level of out central midfield.

The Second Season Saint

When Chicharito were given center stage at Old Trafford last season, he made sure to make it a lasting impression. Blistering speed, undying hunger, finishing abillties that had the best in the world tremble at his gaze. Fairly unknown, Chicharito went from zero to hero in no time, scaring of defenders with his awareness inside the box, his will to win and his finishing abillties. Now, he faces his second season at Old Trafford and in the Premier League. Now, defenders will know his strengths, his weaknesses and know his style of play. This season will prove vital for the young Mexican. Will he be just another "flash in the pan" or can he prove to be the real deal?
